MAS Series

Magnesia-Alumina Spinel Bricks (HYBRIMAG MAS)

The MAS Series belongs to MRL's legacy magnesia-composite brick family, a core product line with over 60 years of production experience. The MAS products are high-performance sintered basic shaped refractories formulated with high-purity magnesia (or fused alumina) and synthetic magnesia-alumina spinel. Manufactured via high-pressure forming and high-temperature firing, MAS bricks exhibit excellent thermal shock resistance, structural strength at high temperatures, and outstanding resistance to slag attack. These bricks are widely used in critical zones of steel refining processes that demand superior resistance to thermal cycling, high loads, and corrosive slags.

Application

  • Steelmaking: Metal line and free space zones of VOD refining ladles, transition zones in RH degassers, above the tap hole in converters.
  • Non-ferrous & Metallurgy: Reduction furnaces, top-blown furnaces under intense thermal cycling and chemical attack.

Steel, Non-Ferrous

Description

  • Spinel-enhanced matrix for superior thermal shock and slag resistance
  • High refractoriness under load (RUL) and excellent mechanical durability
  • Stable microstructure for extended service at high temperatures
  • Good alkali and oxidation resistance, withstanding harsh atmospheres and metal splash
  • Customizable MgO–Al₂O₃ ratios to meet varied application demands
